Our story

Originally from the North of England, we fell in love with the Cotswolds almost instantly. The honey-coloured stone villages, rolling countryside and timeless character of the area felt unlike anywhere else we’d experienced.

What began with a small holiday apartment in Broadway soon grew into something much bigger. Over the years, we carefully restored and furnished The Apartment, The Cottage and The Dovecote, creating places where guests could experience the Cotswolds in comfort while feeling connected to the character of the area.

As our passion for restoration grew, so did our ambition. Alongside Cotswolds Retreats, we undertook our most significant project yet: the transformation of a derelict Cotswold cowshed into our family home, The Cowshed. The project went on to win a British Home Award and a RIBA South East Award, a recognition we’re incredibly proud of and one that continues to influence how we approach every property we restore.

Today, Cotswolds Retreats remains a small, independently owned collection of holiday cottages. We personally oversee every property and take pride in the details, from presentation and comfort to sharing our favourite pubs, walks, villages and hidden corners of the Cotswolds.

More than anything, we want our guests to experience the area as locals do. Whether that’s discovering a village pub with a roaring fire, finding a beautiful walking route, or simply slowing down and enjoying Cotswold life for a few days, we hope every stay leaves guests with the same affection for this special place that inspired us to make it our home.
